2Lt David Sabben was a Platoon Commander at the Battle of Long Tan in August 1966 where he was awarded an MID.
Controversy has raged for years since as to the level of the awards after this battle  and in some cases the complete lack of any award.
The Government has recently decided to upgrade David’s MID  to that of the  Medal of Gallantry - today’s equivalent of the MC.
David Sabben  is our guest speaker at this years NMC Annual Dinner on Friday  28th November 2008– come along and find out if he will accept this long awaited recognition.
